Roots
It is funny how life really comes full-circle. And while you may not
always return to your roots you can experience fun in different
places in your journey of life. Roots are truly a part of life in
the South whether you ride or not.
Recently I have enjoyed much fun at a
place I frequented in my teenage years. A hill that I grew up
skateboarding down, now offers me and my friends joy climbing and
descending on our bikes. Richburg Hill, as it is known, is nestled
in Southeast Hattiesburg where it provides home to businesses,
families, cell phone towers, animals and some hella good bike
trails.
While this is no mountain, it provides enough steepness to kick your
ass. And thanks to some newer trails on the south side, the
switchbacks will keep you climbing and sweating. Along with those
intense climbs there are of course some exciting descents. These
trails are a fantastic escape from a day at the office or when you
just want to get away. And after years of riding all over the
country it is great to come back to my roots and find this trail
still ridden and maintained, thanks Max and Greg. While my interests
have changed, Richburg Hill still gives me the same thrill I
experienced here twenty-five years ago.
