Gusset Single Speed Conversion Kit
 GUSSET SINGLE SPEED CONVERSION KIT

I'm fortunate enough to be part of a fun group of riders/friends. We always have a great time. It doesn't matter if we're riding super hard, or just dorkin' around. It's kind of like a Justice League gathering. Batman, Aquaman, and Thor; Norse God of Thunder all had something different to bring to the table. My contribution to the group is street riding (that's urban assault to all you spandex guys).

With street riding comes the constant destruction of bike parts. I have gone through way too many derailleurs and hangers lately. Do a 180 over a few stairs, roll fakie, pivot out, and snap! My shit just broke, throwing a monkey wrench into our group ride.

I decided to do away with this multi speed contraption, and go single speed. Not a huge sacrifice considering I've been riding BMX over half of my life. Since I'm poor I don't have the cheddar for a new hub. In comes the Gusset single speed conversion. This simple kit comes with two cogs (16t & 18t), two spacers, and a cassette lockring. All for about $35-$40.

To install all you have to do is remove the lockring and slide the cassette off. Slide one of the spacers on, the cog of your choice, then the other spacer, and thread on the new lockring. Ta-Dow.

You can use a variety of chains. I opted for a BMX chain since they're more durable.

This set-up is not for everyone, but the best way that I have found to keep from breaking derailleurs is to eliminate them. Scott
