The Lowdown on Today's Hot Retail BMX Bikes

Haro F3 ($300)

The Lowdown:
F-Series Standard Size 3-Tube Cromo Frame

Haro Alloy Rims & Hubs w/ 14mm Axles 

Pros:

  • 4130 Chromoly is used throughout most of this beast

  • Comes with two sets of pegs and a front brake

  • The available colors look really good

  • Rear Dual cables for better braking

  • Tubular three piece cranks

Cons:

  • Black rim on the rear decreases braking power substantially.

  • They could have went with a smaller sprocket and freewheel.

Conclusions:

The F3 will hold up nicely to any abuse you throw at it, but you may need to upgrade to a chrome back rim or invest in some Red Koolstop brake pads.

Fit Replica ($249.99)

The Lowdown:

4130 downtube, 4130 chromoly fork, Fit 2-pc barsFront load stem, gyro, 36H wheels with Jalco ST32 rims & 14mm axles 175mm 3-pc cranks, 39T chainwheel, alloy platform pedals Tektro U-brake, padded seat Rear street tire, front dirt tire 2 steel pegs. 20" Toptube (31 lbs) 

Pros:

  • Pretty light for an entry level bike

  • Comes with a dirt tire in the front

  • Downsized gearing

Cons:

  • Only one set of pegs and no front brake.

  • Forged cranks instead of tubular.

  • Black rim on the rear.

Conclusions:

The Replica is very light for an entry level bike, and should hold up good. It has black rims, so you may need to upgrade to a chrome back rim or invest in some Red Koolstop brake pads.

The Lowdown:

Pros:

  • Lots of chromoly used.

  • 48h rear CASSETTE wheel with CHROME 48h rim.36/13 gearing

  • Tubular Chromoly 3-pc  Cranks

  • High Pressure tires

  • 4 pegs and front brake included

Cons:

It’s a bit heavier than some of the competition.

Conclusions:

The Disruptor EL2 is a super good bike for the price. The rear cassette hub and chrome rim make it a top contender among entry level bikes.

The Lowdown:

Pros:

  • 100% Chromoly Frame and Fork

  • Tubular Chromoly 3-pc cranks with SEALED BB

  • Downsized gearing

  • Clean look

Cons:

  • Black rim on rear.

  • No gyro

Conclusions:

The Six Pack is an awesome entry level bike. With a simple wheelset upgrade, it could easily be considered a Pro level bike. Highly recommended.
